These animals are more elongated then their ancestors, allowing them to slide through tunnels easily, they have better eyesight then their ancestors and have eyes that are sensitive to movement to spot predators. They use their sharp beaks to pierce through plant matter and enemies. Their backwards facing claws and semi-webbed tail aid them in digging.

They live in small family group of 2-6 and have become less dependent on burrows, mainly using their claws for breaking apart tough food. Even though they are less dependent on burrows they do still use them, and these burrows have a corkscrew shape for easy hiding. Within the burrow is one large room, in which all the family's young are raised.
