With the rise of even more predators, the Hornsnaps looked for a way to escape dangers, and discovered the cenote to the Ferret Anchialine Cave. Split from its ancestor, the Nightsnap is a nocturnal predator. It escaped from dangerous land predators by retreating into the depths of the cave at day, and emerging out of it through the cenote at night. This way, it is pretty safe throughout the time, also letting it become two times the size of its ancestor. It has larger round eyes that change depending on light, to see better at night, and has night vision. This helps it also see in the cave, as it is also dark and hard to see. The Nightsnap is very shy outside the cave, a trait that evolved to avoid becoming prey for predators. It has heightened hearing, able to hear a predator walking from about 500 meters away. When it hears a predator at least 50 meters away, it will grab whatever food it caught and start running back to the cenote of the cave. If the predator is near the cenote, it will instead head to the beach where it is more safe. In the case of being on land too long, it will try its best to hide in local flora. Their coloration is black to help blend in with the night, and also green to hide with flora when forced. Compared to the Hornsnap, the tarsals are a lot more upright. This adaptation was for walking around on the ground more efficiently compared to its ancestor.
The Nightsnap mostly poops in the cave, creating guano. This guano is mostly cleaned up by Caveknights, but is nutrient-rich enough to be used for flora. The Nightsnap brings the food it caught back to the cave and eats it there. When it has babies, it will leave the baby, having one of the parents go look for prey while the other stays and protects the baby. Other than this, the Nightsnap remains similar to its ancestor.
