Game Made up by Nergali

Current Rules
1. All members can join.
2. Sign up date ends a week after announcing the mystery species, so join soon.
3. Contestants work on their splits.
4. A week after sign ups is the submission period.
5. All contestants must post their split in typical submission format on this thread.
6. Poll is held, the winner is chosen.
7. The winner gets to chose the organism for the next contest.
8. Repeat.
I recently had a concept for a contest that I proposed to Hydro. With his approval, I am now posting it.

The main premise is this: An organism is chosen, and then the contestants who have signed up for this contest will develop splits for it. Once the due date arrives, these splits are posted on this thread. A poll is then held, and the creator whose split wins get to choose what the next organism will be for the next contest, after which this all begins again.
Contests so far:

1. Dial K for Krugg
2. Night of the Charybdis
3. I Was a Teenage Cave Swarmer
4. Revenge of the Glacial Sauceback from Sagan IV
5. Invasion of the Colonial Trapinout
6. Sagan IV vs. the Gushlych
7. The Boneflora that Wouldn't Die
8. Hallucrastrums from the Deep
9. 20,000 Rojs Under the Sea
10. A Shockscooter to the System
11. Srugeing Rising

Greetings everyone. I am happy to inform you all that the next Prime Specimen contest is upon us, and after a little vote in challenge-discussion, this time the species chosen has conquered both air and sea! Why, it's none other than the Srugeing! As with before, if you wish to participate, come up with a viable split for this species, and on a Saturday two weeks from now - June 6th, 2021 Saturday - we can start posting all of our submissions. Everyone is free to join, you can submit more than one submission, but remember, you only get one vote in the end still. The creator of the species that wins this contest will get to pick the species for the next Prime Specimen. Have fun, and lets start evolving! If you want to join, or just have a question, just leave a ping for me in challenge-discussion.

Srugeings live in Manineiac Polar Coast, Maneineiac Temperate River, Maineiac Temperate Riparian, and Maineiac Volcanic. The only one way Srugeings could get to Maineiac Volcanic would be by existing on the beach, such as Maineiac Polar Beach, but they do not. Maineiac Polar Beach was also listed as one of their original habitats. Did they go locally extinct in that area at some point? I figure it was either a species-transfer oversight or an end-of-week extinction event that caused some extirpations, because no organism descriptions mention outcompeting them in Maineiac Polar Beach. This is important to figure out the potential habitats of splits made for this contest.

It's kinda a bit late to deal with that given submissions are due tomorrow, but... MNIDJM Nergali

I think it must be an oversight, as I don't think anything replaced it on the beach (it has no descendants there, or any at all yet, by the time of this.)

On a slightly different topic, would people like to extend this contest by another week? Would give those who already finished with their submissions some extra time to polish their drawings/descriptions, as well as make other submissions, and give others who were busy more time to finish their submissions.

I wouldn't mind an extension. I've been having a bad week and didn't get as much done as I would've like.

No worries. I see no issue with extending this another week. I've also pinged MNIDJM about the beaches, so when they get back on we'll have this cleared up, but so far it seems to just be a case of them not being added by accident.

When do people think we should hold the vote for Prime Specimen? I know some people's submissions are still WIP. Do you all think you'll be ready by the end of the week?

June 29 should be plenty of time for me to finish my entry, and it might be sufficient for others.

Ok, if that's fine with everyone else.
