If this is too big even for the colony size exception, I can scale it down if needed. I figured the size jump is justified because only the exterior is alive, it's basically a spherical mat.

I'll be honest, I'm not an expert on how big a colonial organism like this can get, as the biggest I can think of, on earth, are limited to massive siphonophores. Since it is capable of photosynthesis, that should give it some leeway in regards to size.

With ballonts, the larger you are the easier it is to support your own weight, weirdly.

I do not recognize the word "ballont". There is no mention of it in the wiki. An in-description specification of "ballont" could help, as could using it in a glossary on Sagan 4's wiki.
"the exact amount" "The" should be capitalized here.

As far as I can tell, it's plausible.
