| One small typo of the descendant being the "camelback"... though that might help with an idea for an arid-faring snapper storing fat in its tail... |
Person 1: "Why is it called the Camelback? The fat is concentrated in its tail, not on its back! It's back is just a lizard, lizard-y sort of normal back!"
Person 2: "Well, its ancestor is called the Camoback, so we're just riffing on that naming scheme. The concept came from a typo, in the first place."
Person 1: "But the Camoback doesn't just have camouflage on its back, does it? That just adds another question!"
Person 2: "Well, the Camoback is named because its ancestor is called the pebbleback, because it had little scutes or osteoderms on it's back."
Person 1: "Sagan 4 is weird".
Seriously, though, a lot of our names are just, incredibly strange if taken even slightly out of context!
