Name: Kruna Shevs (Krunazamak spp.)
Creator: Salty
Ancestor: Mound Shev
Habitat: Dorite Sea
Size: 30-50 cm wide colony, .5-2 cm wide individual
Support: Aragonite shell
Diet: Filter-Feeding (<2 mm)
Thermoregulation: ectotherm
Respiration: passive
Reproduction: sexual budding, cysts

The Kruna Shevs have branched off from their ancestor and developed a structure more suited to efficient filter feeding. Rather than a single large dome, Kruna Shevs now build multiple skinnier domes around its center. The building up of shells and the core of the colony is done primarily via dissolved minerals, with the substrate and the abandoned shells of other colonies being sourced for minerals only when dissolved minerals become scarce or when under other stressors such as damage. Their potential coloration is dependent on impurities in the minerals they utilize for shell construction, With different species accumulating different impurities and concentrations in their shells, resulting in a wide range of colors across the genus. The number of domes per Kruna varies with the its diameter, with larger diameter Krunas having more domes of shorter overall heights. Their cysts can last for years in the water column and withstand much greater pressures than those of their ancestors, allowing species to expand to the twilight and midnight zones. Sunlight zone species grow at a similar rate to their ancestor, while twilight, and midnight species grow considerably slower due to lack of food, but have longer lifespans for individual cells.

"Crown" has taxonomic implications. I suggest using a different word.

Was this edited since the crown comment was posted? Many organisms use "crown" in some language as part of their common and scientific names. I don't see that much of an issue with "kruna".

It was originally called Crown Shevs
