In the depths of Sagan IV's oceans, the Honeycomb Crust flourished around Vailnoff Vents, living off the heat and chemicals spewed from the rock. Some time after the mass extinction event that diminished the nitrogen supply and killed off many species, some of these Honeycomb Crust began feeding on metals such as nickel, cobalt, and copper. Since they sometimes drift around in the water, this allowed them to live basically anywhere where both their initial source of nutrients, and/or transitional metals exist at the depths they can survive at. Lithocombs come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colors, some bearing a coloration like their ancestor, while some demonstrate hues of reds and browns, which are usually an indicator of what metals may be present in their environment. Their most peculiar feature is a bulging, translucent piece of their cell wall that is on top of their bodies, and allows one to see their organelles inside, while the rest of their cell wall is far too opaque for this to be possible. This section of their cell wall is also slightly weaker and thinner than the rest of it, allowing for things like Litusrinkles to more easily get through it and into their cytoplasm. Aside from all this, they remain mostly the same as their ancestor, mostly physically, being hexagonal chemotrophic cells with a cell wall that live in the depths of the oceans.

I like these, and can't immediately find anything wrong.
