The Support Page on the wiki has Hydraulic System listed as a possibility.

"A hydraulic system has some similarities to a hydrostatic skeleton, in that fluid is used to move and support the organism. Water pressure is used to move the body and limbs. A real-world example is echinoderms."

This sounds like what I was envisioning for it.

That's literally the direction I was intending for gelatins when I first made them.

But like without muscles.

But because they don't have limbs, it's not really a hydraulic system yet. It's just a hydrostatic skeleton.

Reasonable changes (if any)?: To my understanding all hydraulic is hydrostatic, not all hydrostatic is hydraulic, so you could probably call it hydrostatic just to be on the safe side of a questionable semantic argument.. That's said, the main distinction is having distinct chambers which use the differences in in pressure levels, which is applicable to both this and its ancestor. The novelty here is a valve system that can close and open chambers allowing limited mobility.

The habitat needs to move to somewhere its ancestor lived, either Soma or Lamarck would do fine IMO.
New genus name needed, because... its a planimal. On their own the transitions are very subtle, valves between chambers and expanding what nutrition it will retain aren't big jumps, but the end result is that it moves and it eats. I for one welcome our sponge planimal overlords, IMO we actually do need more fauna that are on the passive and simple side of things and not a shot at charismatic megafauna
