That would probably work.

That has been corrected. I have corrected the related paragraph to:

"Some females in this species range have learned to take advantage of the bloodbees' love of birthing fluids left on plent young, delaying licking it off so they can attract snacks, either for themselves after their exhausting process or for their newborn young. Others trail very pregnant individuals of other species so they can feast on bloodbees attracted by the birthing fluids made later."

Sorry I've been gone so long. Not sure how much it matters now but I had been working under the assumption that all thornbacks had 2 toes per foot, both front and back. That's why the Thumbwalker has such a strange hand structure, it only has two digits and they've each specialized for a different purpose.

The Cave Chut, a old shrew species, lost 2 pairs of eyes and it's not explained.

as I recall, yes, it was in fact explained that it lost them due to living in a cave.

New misinterpretation discovered: The "chin-spike" of glasseaters...was actually the paired horizontal lower incisors of their ancestors.

Um, how should we handle this? @TheBigDeepCheatsy @MNIDJM @OviraptorFan

Well, this sucks. Anyone got any suggestions on what to do?

All I got is either the chin spike is maybe the conjoined root of the lower incisors sticking out, evos from now on have to have the "chin-spike" as teeth, or to have it be the two teeth fused together with keratin capping them (So being two teeth still, but encased in keratin to where it looks like one spike)

Or there may have to be a retcon to Maineiac's Wallahopper to have a chin spike instead of its incisors.

Or worse, a total redraw may be required for every submission

Or worst, wiping them all out, which I don't really want to do obviously.

Retconning the incisors to have been a chin spike in the first place seems like the best course of action to me, as annoying as it is.

I agree: a retcon is the easiest solution. Other than the glasseater, the wallahopper has only two other descendants, with no descendants between them.

It may be possible to link the development of a chin-spike to its teeth, in some way. The developmental changes could be split into two phases across the Wallahopper and the Glasseater.

Naked mole rat teeth are on the outside of its lips. It's believed that odontodes (toothlike structures on the skin) and teeth originated from the same basal tissue (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7738188/). The suckermouth armored catfish is one example of a vertebrate with odontodes. (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-022-10222-y, https://www.newscientist.com/article/228275...teeth-evolved/)

As TheBigDeepCheatsy suggested, fused-teeth with a keratin cap (or some other material) could also be an option. It would seem keratin, or a keratin-like material, is indeed found in tooth enamel, making this fairly plausible. Is this a suitable sketch for a re-draw of the Greencrest?

It's meant to have a greatly elongated body outside of its shell. (something like a shipworm) Its pattern of stripes, which help it blend in with the faint stripes/color gradations of the Gomboc Roj's shell, could be mistaken for segmentation at first glance.

As for the Bloodbee...a description clarification that the pink end is the mouth is the only thing needed. I think I originally didn't know Xenobees (non-genus-group at the time) all flew with their rumps first.

Any updates on the Greencrest situation?

No, I totally forgot. It's been a while, and I've had multiple demands on my time lately.
If the sketch is good, I can (eventually) use it to make the new official art.

Hm, @Disgustedorite and @MNIDJM what do you two think of Coolsteph's attempt at fixing the Greencrest? Does it look good to go?
