All first time submissions must be made in this thread. But before you post, please make sure you read THE RULES for posting. The rule regarding submission holding between generations do not apply to this thread, so you may submit species between generations while on here. We're not looking for perfection in this thread, just that you understand formatting, our rules, and basic biology. More in-depth discussion will be had in the official Organism Submission thread.

Additionally, please make sure your drawings are colored. If you do not color your drawing, no one will be able to accurately evolve anything from it.

You can see examples of what your submissions should look like by clicking here. Note that your description does not need to be long, as long as it communicates information about your species.

Once you have submitted your organism, Hydromancerx, MNIDJM or a member of the mod team will tell you if have passed within few days. If you pass, you may start making as many species as you want. If not we will tell you what you need to improve upon. There is no limit to how many times you can apply. Once you are a team member you are always one. You just may be put on inactive status until you return again, but no need to reapply.

Returning members need not post here simply send me a message and your membership will be restored.

We look forward to your submissions! //files.jcink.net/html/emoticons/smile.gif

Name: Coastal Tamow (porcotherium costalis)
Creator: Detoxicated
Ancestor: Marine Tamow

Habitat: Jlindy Tropical Coast, Jlindy Tropical Beach

Size: 2m long

Diet: Herbivore (Olltooka, Carnurtain Leaves, Snotflora, Marbleflora, Pioneer Raftballs, Colonial Bobiiro, Stalk Rastum, Carnosprawl Leaves, Carnosprawl sap)

Reproduction: Sexual, Live Birth, Two Genders, Pouch and Milk

The Coastal Tamow split from its ancestor, the Marine Tamow, and replaced it in the Jlindy Tropical Coastal area. It has abandoned the use of the raft, and instead lives on the sandy shores of Jlindy Tropical Coast, while hunting in its waters for food. Each day it slowly moves to the sea, from the land looking rather inept for land. This is due to its change in body composition, which is now more suited for maneuvering the waters.

Its tail has grown a slight amount, and its hind legs have become smaller, while also facing backwards now. The hindleg claws have developed more pronounced webbing to ease swimming. The front legs have become shorter, but remain as muscular as its ancestors. The front leg claws have become larger and barbed. The barbed claws make cutting into the Carnosprawl bark alot easier and can also be used to stab into fruit or leaves the Coastal Tamow wants to eat. Its ears have become smaller and more aligned to its head, taking a triangular form, to easen its swimming.

It has become especially fond of the sap of Carnosprawls, but will eat any plant that is not poisonous to itself and available.
Besides these aspects, it is quite similar to its ancestor.

@Detoxicated sorry for the late response! Are you the same "Detoxicated" who was already a member before the limbo?

On the submission itself, the ancestor already had webbed feet, so that is not a new development.

Hey Detoxicated, welcome. Are you the original Detoxicated?

Also, Jlindy Tropical Coast does not have any shores. If you want to have it live on the shore you need to add Jlindy Tropical Beach to their habitat.

Yes I am the original Detox.
I didnt find the beach but will add it now.
Guess i must have missed the Bit about the webbing...
Edit: Changed the Text about the webbing and added the Tropical Beach

Since you're the original Detoxicated, there's no need to use this thread. @MNIDJM can restore your Sagan 4 Team status and split this into its own topic.

@Detoxicated Welcome back! Your membership has been restored and your submission has been moved to the Organism Submission subforum.

Can i get member role again please? I have a species I want to post.

Shepherd Harnessback (Skitterus pastor)

user posted image

Creator: Hydromancerx
Habitat: Dixon-Darwin High Grassland
Size: 160 cm long
Diet: Carnivore (Xatazelle, Desert Tilecorn, Gracilxata, Leafplate, Xatagolin, Neoshrew, Tasermane, Plehexapod, Snoofloo, Dualtrunk, Giant Hornface, Scrubland Hornface, Grassland Lizatokage, Shroom Herder), Scavenger, Sanguivore (Larva)
Reproduction: Sexual, Hard-Shelled Eggs in Corpses, Two Genders

The shepherd harnessback split from its ancestor the harnessback in Dixon-Darwin High Grassland. It has developed a unique lifestyle. It will guard various herbivores. Each pack choose it's own type and passes on that tradition to their offspring.

The reason they guard them is so they can have their grubs feed on them. The parasitic larval forms latch on the backs of their hosts. They have a numbing agent in their saliva so it doesn't cause pain to their host. Parents choose healthy and strong hosts for their offspring. Once they get large enough they will detach and join the pack. Once sexually mature they will made and even form their own herd taking some of the younger hosts with them. When laying their eggs they now make their nests out of the weak and old hosts and have the babies feed upon the carcass. After they are large enough the larges will carry them to their living hosts to feed on blood.

Their stomach can process various types of bloods. though some hosts are easier to feed upon than others. In addition the adults can make soothing sounds to calm their hosts. This varies from host to host but works well with hosts that have been born into the lifestyle. Likewise they send out warning calls from predators and will fiercely fight off any predator who tried to attack their herd. Males are typically larger than females and are usually more aggressive towards any predators. Thus creating large booming calls to scare them off. Or high pitched shrieks to hurt the ears of attackers.

When adults need to feed they choose the weakest in the heard and tend to lur them off so the rest of the herd doesn't panic. In fact the saliva that numbs hosts when babies is also used to numb their hosts before killing them. Thus their deaths are usually painless and appear as though the hosts just fell asleep and never woke up. Their other physical features are much like their ancestors though they are taller and leaner due to their living on a grassland biome.

Oh hey welcome back. No need to post here, you’re membership was grandfathered in

The "ancestor" part of the form is missing. There's a few typos as well, but I'll wait for Coolsteph because she'll probably spot more than me.

Does it have any defense against the Opportunity Shrew? That particular species abuses the fact that saucebacks use echolocation to locate and sneak into nests and eat their eggs and larvae, and it sounds like this species sticks close by.

Thanks. I never got to apply like this so it was fun to do for once.

Common Name: Sweetstalk
Scientific Name: Negrosolis Dulcis
Creator: daxx3232
Ancestor: Sunstalks
Habitat: Barlowe temperate rainforest
Size: 1.5m tall
Diet: Photosynthesis
Reproduction: Asexual, airborne cylindrical spores, assisted pollination via xenobees

Sweetstalk split from its ancestor in Barlowe temperate rainforest and has developed a way to spread its spores further away via xenobees, besides the fact that it still uses wind to spread most of its spores. The way the sweetstalk attracts xenobees is by accumulating rainwater at the bottom of its spore chamber and mixing it with nectar that the sweetstalk secretes, then the xenobee will land on the spore chamber to drink the nectar and stick some spores on itself carrying them to places far away from their origin where more sweetstalk will grow.

It also was affected by island giantism reaching sizes from 1m to 1.5m at maturity.

It will hibernate during winter before regrowing its photosynthetic parts for the rest of the year.

edit: punctuation, grammar, structure and edited the image to not have so much white space.

The words in the template (the part at the top) should be capitalized. It is preferred that you do not space out the top template. (See Hydromancerx's submission above for a good example on how to format a good submission.)
There's a lot of white space to the right in the image, which should be trimmed out.

I am not sure whether island gigantism should apply to Barlowe. Certainly, it is a small island now, but it didn't suddenly (geologically speaking) arise from the ocean. It was formerly a large continent, but most of it is now submerged. It may be comparable to Zealandia, the largely-submerged continent that only has New Caledonia and New Zealand as above-water parts.

It is thought island gigantism occurs from a lack of competition for particular niches, and there are already fairly large flora: the Obsidian Shrub: (50 cm tall), the Rainforest Carnofern: (60 cm tall), the Barnline (1 m wide, estimated height: 50 cm tall) and Obsidibarrage. (6 m tall; necessarily passes through 1.5 m and similar ranges while growing). Doesn't it make more sense that the Obsidian Shrub should get three times bigger, or the Obsidibarrage would shrink, then a Sunstalk should get 10 times bigger when there would be competition for that size range? (see the smaller flora of the island)

The first two sentences are breathless. You should add commas, and split it up into more sentences. I would recommend adding a little more detail, although similarly minimal descriptions do have precedent in the Alpha timeline. (e.g., the Crowned Kingrush)

Barlowe is currently classified as an island for island gigantism rule purposes. That said, I do agree that's kinda large.

Though, I thought this was meant for Ramul. Did you change your mind?
