Read the description

"However, the most important ancestral characteristics it retains are that it can feel happiness and that it is capable of being ticklish."
I wonder when, exactly, the capacity to feel happiness was developed on Sagan 4, or whether it's hard to define the definite point where that occurs. (much like "Do lobsters feel pain?/Do they feel pain as humans do?") Perhaps, for whatever reason, it's worth specifying in the same way someone might specify "Blue jays enjoy eating sunflower seeds" when "enjoyment of sunflower seeds" or enjoyment of seeds in general, as a property, existed in many other organisms other than blue jays.

It's interesting to see the dark-brown wood of its teeth. The lighting is good, too.

I drew attention to those traits because Cheatsy did in its ancestors

Wait -- did you find another holdout that should've survived but didn't?

Wait -- did you find another holdout that should've survived but didn't?

someone replaced the fishing grasper for objectively false reasons (for the sake of alienification? hatred? who knows), so it was undone. It was too far removed from norat to get no-snarfed and survived everything else.

There's precedent for this; this also happened to the cave rustmold, which was then revived.

Fun fact: The fishing grasper was actually investigated as a revival candidate once before as well!

So, as the replacement was revealed to be spurious, so too did its ancestor end up surviving to this day, correct?

Is its descendant that was intended to replace it still canon, or was it revealed to be too broken to remain canonical too?

Its replacement remains, just not as a replacement. It was a bubblehorn specialist. Somehow replacing a generalist, for "all of its prey being extinct", when in fact all of its prey was extant.

(Given basal nodents were originally killed off out of hate, I think it was kinda inevitable that one would be found to have been wrongly wiped lol)

So are we suggesting that it was the power of love that brought them back? /s

Beautiful species, I especially like the little twitch the upper incisor is doing.

That is not all the changes it has from its ancestor but I'll take it

Larands is mispelled as "Larlands"

fixed

Oh, @MNIDJM, you may want to compare this and its ancestor again...you missed literally every single physical change except the coloration and listed a feature it inherited from its ancestor as a change.

If it eats Alpine Cirruses, wouldn't it need some protection from the dermatitis they cause? It's worth mentioning.
