This was a fun swap/collaboration to do.

Oh, just a heads up, but I believe the Crystank Flashsprout is spelled Crystank Flasprout. There's no h in it.

There are some fixes necessary:

"Period have long since passed and in its place is are brisk,"

Mishap

"complex and a handful of other otherwise-maladapted denizens"

I like this however following other with other is awkward.

"deposit a packet containing both the walker’s and the shell’s sperm"

Should the shells gametes be considered sperm? Is there a significant ova counterpart?

"With spermatocytes conjugated with their respective components’ gametes"

This is related to previous comment, I'm not sure it's clarifying enough regarding the gamete system in play.

I'm curious about the deciduous nature, it may be good to clarify why the color change occurs, example in plants it is because chlorophyll ceases production and what remains are accessory pigments and defensive pigments, when eventually fade themselves.

Yea, the deciduous colors are exactly for the manufacture of the last sugars for the year, which I imagine is the case for certain earth plants.

I'm trying to find sources on the light levels of polar regions.

It may be better to find out what the dominant light is at different angles of the sun in the sky, then determine where the sun is at different times of the year for Sagan 4 regions.
