Could you explain why the Songsauce Piper evolved unidirectional lungs?

Fuzing the micro lungs into connected chambers allow it to quickly take in the large quantities of the air it would require for short bursts of intense flight, once connected simply breathing in rhythm front to back would make them unidirectional, which would become more efficient as the middle spiracles were lost.
